Duality Dance Poster – Graphic Design

jordannerissa designed this poster for the Finger Lakes Dance!’s production of Duality in Geneva, NY.

We were provided with a promotional photo for the production and drew upon it for inspiration.

The use of shadows was intriguing to us and made us think about what the word “duality”  means, which as an instance of contrast between two concepts. We developed that into the idea of splitting the word duality itself between two colors.

We drew upon the use of purple and black from the photo to emphasize that. We also faded the photo into white to further increase the contrast.

The dancer’s arm visually splits the poster vertically and her arm is intentionally in line with the L.
